When the Billboard Awards nominations were announced, artist Lola Indigo exploded on the networks at the absence of female singers among those cited. Where are the women?» she wondered.  «Today women are at the maximum power,» answers Nyno Vargas asking about this situation in the industry. «Just look at the fact that the biggest representative of the genre called flamenco urban pop fusion is a woman and her name is Rosalía. To say that they are not given a chance is not true.»

After the success of Hola, Nena with Omar Montes, it was only a matter of time before Nyno Vargas released another hit song. The Valencian singer, who achieved a Gold Record in his first month with that song, has released this September a new collaboration: Toto.

N: I was already working on something for her. I was looking for something very specific. It wasn’t until a friend in the studio told me the story that he was after a girl. When he met up with her, a friend of hers came over and the guy made a big deal out of it, never better said. He told me that, when he met her, the one he liked in the end was her friend. It was a joke. From that point on, the light came on and I took him to the song. I told my team that I wanted to present it to the Mala because I thought it was funny. That’s how it went.

M: Me neither. It’s very strong, but I understand that it can happen. I understand that when you’ve had a few too many drinks, you’re up for anything. One girl, after the song came out, told me that it wasn’t right for me to do that to my friend. I had to tell her that it was a song and that it wasn’t my life. The song talks about a girl who is drunk and doesn’t care if she’s eight or eighty.

It was like a movie. Like War Z, with the zombies. When we arrived at the airport and saw it empty, people with masks…. In a plane with 500 passengers we were only 30 because it was a repatriation flight.

I knew I was not going to win the program because a profile like mine (Montes) had already won the previous edition. I asked him when they proposed it to me, because he is a very close person to me, he is my friend. He told me that it was a bad time but that it was an incredible experience that he was not going to live even if he paid for it. What really influenced me was that it was Isabel Pantoja. Pantoja was the one who broke the barrier.
